You said that you can't learn שׁלחן ערוך and פּסקין you need to learn the background of it, but the rambam says that you can just learn his ספר and not need a another one?
לפי שאדם קורא בתורה שבכתב תחלה ואחר כך קורא בזה ויודע ממנו תורה שבעל פה כולה ואינו צריך לקרות ספר אחר ביניהם..
