The fast of Tisha b'Av is observed on the Hebrew calendar date of 9 Av (or 10 Av, when 9 Av is Shabbat). Here are the coinciding secular dates for the upcoming years:

When are the 9 days on which it's traditional not to eat meat before the 9th of Av. Since the days start at sunset, it's not clear what the tradition is. Reply

I found it interesting that this year it coincides with my English birthday August 13th.

As it turns out, I am a Levy and a descendant of the Baal Shem Tov.

Tisha B'Av The fast commemorates the sin of the 12 Spies.(Mishnah Taanit 4:6
The destruction of the First and Second Temples which both occurred on Av 9.
The Romans crushed The Bar Kokhba's revolt and destroyed the city of Betar, killing over 100,000 Jews, on July 8, 132 (Av 9)
Most religious communities now also use Tisha B'Av to mourn the 6,000,000 Jews who perished in the Holocaust Reply

To C. P. Because we may not fast on Shabbat, (except when Yom Kippur coincides with Shabbat), the fast of Nine Av is pushed off to Saturday night and Sunday. Reply

This year, a non-Jewish calendar has the New Moon on July 15. Presumably July 15/16 is the First Day of the Month of Av. Nine days later would be July 23/24. Is the date of Tisha b'Av "adjusted" to avoid conflict with Shabbat? Reply

Other 9th of Av Historic Events This goes back to when Israel sent spies into the promised land & most of them came back with a bad & fearful report.
World War 1 began on this date.
Hitler's Final Solution to eliminate the Jews was drafted on the day.
Gaza was evacuated and the land given to the Palestinians by the beginning of the date.
Jews kicked out of Spain. Jews kicked out of England. There is much more.... Reply

I realize this answer is much later in its forthcoming than your request (as I just read it myself) but yes, in case you never got your answer, the two temples were destroyed on Tisha B'av. Also it is the date when Jews were ejected from Spain and on another year on the same date they were expelled from England. This is just a handful of events - I know there are many more. I've likened it to a scratch in an LP record that extends the entire recording and sometimes when the needle hits the scratch major things happen, other times just a minor blip. It is a bonafide reason for fasting on this date - as catastrophies are bound to happen, and G-D works with dates, numbers and symbols when dealing with His people. Hope that helped for anyone wanting to know! Reply

If a child does not listen to his parent, he will not get any treats or snacks and will possibly go to bed early. So to if an adult does not listen to his parent, G-d, he too will not get the treats he desires. We must all be aware that G-d made a beautiful world and man is the one who contaminated it with all the immorality and lack of faith. Reply
