I once heard that if there was a scenario of an enemy threatening to kill a whole Jewish city unless the city sent out a specific person to be killed, the city may not do so/may not send this person out to be killed in their place. Is this true? If or if not so, is there a source for the answer? Thank you Reply
"If idolaters will demand one of a group of women, saying: "Yield us one of among you and we will defile her, if not we will defile you all", let all be defiled, rather than surrender to them one soul in Israel. Likewise, if idolaters will say to a group of men: "Yield us one of you and we will kill him, if not we will kill you all", let all of them be killed rather than surrender to them one soul in Israel. If, however, they single out the one, saying: "Give us that man, if not we will kill you all", if he be guilty of a capital crime, as, for example, Sheba son of Bichri, they may surrender him to them, but it is not commendable to advise them to do so; if he be not guilty of a capital crime, they all must submit rather than surrender them one soul in Israel." (Mishneh Torah Laws of Foundations of the Torah 5:5)
It is based on a Mishna in Terumot 8:12.

Can I reheat soup on Shabbos on a blech Reply
One may not reheat liquids on Shabbos that have cooled down entirely. A blech does not allow putting foods on it on Shabbos. It only allows foods to be returned to it under specific circumstances and it allows leaving foods on it from before Shabbos. See Shulchan Aruch Admor Hazaken 318. Reply
