Tanya: Chaopter 37 - Part 5 Dear Rabbi Gordon you mentioned not to give to those who do not deserve it. May I ask? Who are those who do not deserve? I feel that no matter who they are, even if they are drunkards, drug addicts, whoever, when we give Tzedakah we are teaching this person receiving a good lesson commanded by G-d. If they do not learn from it, it is their problem, Hashem, blessed be He, will take care of them. Hashem, will teach them the lesson they need to learn. I have learnt this lesson myself. If we have no money to give, we can give of ourselves in service. If we cannot do either, then we are in great need ourselves. Hashem, blessed be He, is our Provider. I always remember His precious words when He rebuked the people of Israel when they turned to their idolatry: "Isn't there a G-d in Yisrael who provides for ALL your needs and protect, heals you, and sanctify you? I am not perfect, I am always failing Him. We need to learn from His attributes of kindness, love, and compassion. Reply
The greatest mitzveh Rabbi, Superb teaching on tzedakah. Can you fathom the blessings from G-d if everyone actually lived by this? Reply
Great teaching. Really good to hear today when everyone seems focused on the economy.
