You never know what R. Gordon is going to say next. That's what keeps my interest. The quote "the mud and the blood and the beer" i9s from Johnny Cash's song Boy Named Sue about a kid whose father gives him that name because it means he'll have to get strong fighting his way through life. Kind of like fighting against the animal soul to keep the other souls pure. Reply
Tanya: Chapter 24 - Part 3 Dear Rabbi Gordon it is good to hear that the process of suffering is not a punishment but a cleansing. It is so true, I have seen how Hashem's, blessed be He, angels interfere in our battle with our enemies, for satan uses even our families to bring us down. But, when we are seeking Hashem in our daily prayers and study of Torah, our daily battles are won with His help. I have a question Rabbi Gordon. Is it forbidden to listen to a niggun on Shabbat? I love music, specially those of praises. When I read the psalms of David for the Sabbath, most of them are praises. Did he play the Lyre while reciting them? I would love to hear them chanted. If there are any in Chabad songs I would love to hear them.Thank you in advance for your kind response.
