Tanya Chapter 17 part 2
I love your classes! What if your addiction is G-d? What if your addiction is Torah? What if this is the only thing you can think of day and night? Is there a addiction that is positive because I will not stop!
Love,
Your Jewish Brother

Learning to love Hashem vs. Sinning. How can one learn to love Hashem in the face of such a materialistic pleasure seeking society? This question raised by Rabbi Gordon in Daily Tanya ch.17 is addressed at length. It appears to be a key issue in the war waged by the aspiring beinoni. Rabbi Gordon suggests hisbonnenus- reflection on G-d's greatness among other topics to awaken the hidden love each of us possesses for G-d.
This hidden love is then employed consciously in serving Him. Rabbi Chaim Shal-m Deutch recalled more than once in his Tanya class how the bochurim would sit still for at least an hour thinking about G-d's greatness before dovining Shachrit (the morning prayers) to cultivate love of G-d. He would mention that this is not too common during weekday prayers today, with deep regret.
Maybe each person can evaluate his schedule and see if it is possible to impliment
this practice or increase this aspect of serving Hashem realizing how crucial it is to deepen their awe and love of Hashem before praying?
