If you continue to study Tanya, I believe you will learn that a man is not complete without a woman, and that in Genesis, woman comes after man and is thus, higher evolved. Both men and women evolved from Adam. I like to think that women are better at multi-tasking, and men are the protectors, better at one track tasks. But I'm no expert. Ask my wife! Reply

Excellent class The lessons in Tanya are excellent, but Chapter 2 was written before DNA and focus only on the father of the child as the most important person, making the mother out to be very inferior to the male. What a pity the Alter Rabbi did not have the knowledge that we have today, then I am sure he would have treated the mother of the child with more importance, not just as a bag for the baby to grow inside. Reply
One way to look at it without doing anyone an injustice is to bear in mind that the new child as an egg in the mother remains unrealized until the father does his part.... so the masculine complements and actualises the feminine which remains in potential until then. This kinda rhymes with what we learn about the complementarity of the active and passive principles inherent in all creation. Reply
