No missing word. Although the Talmud does conclude that blessing as "shel Chanukah," there is also the widely accepted version you see here. The reason for not including the word shel is based on a Kabbalistic teaching of the Arizal, who says that this blessing is to contain thirteen words. If shel is included in the belssing, we have fourteen words. As our liturgy is based on the Arizal's teachings, the shel is omitted and we have a thirteen word blessing.

thank you for helping me teach my Hispanic students in East New York Brooklyn about the beauty of our Festival of Lights traditions. The transliterations were great because the students were really singing in Hebrew! Now they are playing the Dreidel game!
