Ishmael: (1727-1590 BCE) Son of Abraham and Hagar. Banished together with his mother from Abraham’s household because of his potentially negatively influence on Isaac. Though a rogue in his younger years, he eventually repented. Ancestor of Arabic nations.

Abraham’s son Ishmael was circumcised at age 13 with full awareness and consciousness, in contrast to Isaac, who was circumcised as a mere infant who could not possibly comprehend. The latter has strong implications for Jewish education.
