Ruth Gila creates original Judaic oil paintings. She has amassed a rich oeuvre of portraits and mystically inspired paintings. A native of Morocco, she was educated in France but did not discover her true artistic talent until she re-located in Los Angeles. As an outgrowth of the soul searing nature of her work she embarked on a spiritual journey which led her to Jerusalem. Portraits of holy Jewish figures steam forth from her studio, as she truly captures their essences.
Artist’s Statement: When I paint a sage I disappear and become one with him and feel the Divine. What a delightful experience!

Artist's Statement: Light is most essential to any painting. In this painting, it's the power of the tzaddik himself that creates the light. He is the channel through which we can see the Divine. He is like a mirror to yourself... is it not delightful?
