Hundreds of Jewish children in Moscow got a special treat at the upshernish, or the traditional first hair cut given to three-year-old boys, of Natan Yisrael Bessler: an exclusive performance by Israeli children’s entertainer Malkali Bloy-Chanukah.

“It was wonderful to bring happiness to so many children,” said the boy’s mother, Vered Bessler, who chose to hold the celebration at the historic Marina Roscha Synagogue in gratitude for the work of Chabad-Lubavitch throughout Eastern Europe.

She credits Rabbi Zalman and Shalom Stambler, emissaries in Warsaw, for the family’s embrace of Jewish life. …
