Chabad-Lubavitch Rabbi Shmuel Kaminetsky, chief rabbi of Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine, received a medal recognizing his efforts in assisting law enforcement and encouraging goodwill between the Jewish community and the region’s other ethnic groups.

At the award ceremony held at the city’s historic Golden Rose Synagogue, regional official Alexander Bobylev commended Kaminetsky for his work and also commented on the beauty and uniqueness of the synagogue.

For his part, regional Gov. Victor Bondar wished the Jewish community continued success and pledged his administration’s support for advancing ethnic and cultural tradition in the region. …
