Pressed for space, the Houston headquarters of Chabad-Lubavitch of Texas purchased two acres of land from a neighboring apartment complex all too eager to get rid of some vacant space.
The deal with Fondren Court will effectively triple the size of the Chabad-Lubavitch campus, which was already in the midst of a renovation and expansion project.
According to program director Rabbi Chaim Lazaroff, the purchase will give room for a larger play area and more parking spaces at the center, which boasts a rapidly growing school and other Jewish activities. …
