I'm Needed? I fail to understand why. I have failed at most everything I have done in life. There is has always been somebody else who can or could do everything I did better and at least, successfully. It appears to me that G-d has hidden his face from me all my life, and when I look honestly at what I have accomplished, it has been a total waste. It always gets worse during the period at least one month before to two months after my birthday, the 17th of Shevat, when I am swamped with tragedy and suffering of all types. I have been an oysvarf all my life. All I can do now is follow the suggesstions on how Jews celebrate a birthday. I will be 62 this year, and I feel very strongly, when I look at the evidence, that the end of my life is coming. Better prepare for it. Reply
so sorry to read about your situation and maybe it's bashert that I should read this today on my father's 90th birthday ! unfortunately my father was nifter in hospital in London in his sleep early Friday morning in London when everybody was expecting him to come home in a few days like he had in the past and I am now sitting shiva on my own in Toronto - 4 of my 5 children are in the US and our border is closed - we just did a Zoom Shiva call and my kids pointed out how my father never complained over the last few years even though he was in a lot of pain - obviously we don't always understand why "tzaddik vera lo" and it could be due to what you did in a previous gilgul - and there are 4 ways to change your mazal including changing place , especially if you were to go on aliya and move to Israel Reply

Anon Milan, PA I know not what led me here, I'm deserving of none of the grace G-d has given me. I was studying because I had to respond to a friend's message to me that he believes that birthdays are not biblical, hardly mentioned (he gave 2 ref., both adversarial), and somehow to be shunned. I knew that not to be true in my heart. I went to Jerimiah & Genesis as directed. I did find a cursing in one and a death in the other. I knew there were more, I went to Job, again I found pain and suffering. I knew this was not an answer I was seeking. I went to Birthdays and wisdom on chabad.org. There I found sparks of life and celebration, there I found G-d gives life and unique purpose to everyone and created us for such a purpose. One of yours was for me to see your words and bless me, a nothing, with compassion and love for another. We only have now, today for love. I am sorry for your hurt, may G-d take it away from you. Bless you for your Birthday: because ~You're needed~ by G-d and me. Bless You*
