To Jeff The Red Heifer was a red cow that was used for purification rites in the times of the Temple. www.chabad.org/45616 Moses struck the rock by his own free will, and was punished for it. Nevertheless, it was G-d's plan that Moses not enter the land, so that he not leave his flock in the desert. what is red heffer not sure what red heffer is.why did moses not get to go to Isreal.Was he predestined by G-d to strike the rock because he trusted G-d and was totally intuitive. Was it G-d's plan or is Moses using free will to strike rock instead of speaking to it and Hashem punishes Moses by not physically going to promised land and just seeing it with G-d like eyes from the mount? Reply
