Chapter 10

1And King Ahasuerus imposed a tribute on the land and on the isles of the sea.
2And all the acts of his power and his might and the full account of Mordecai's greatness, how the king advanced him-are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia?
3For Mordecai the Jew was viceroy to King Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews and accepted by most of his brethren; seeking the good of his people and speaking peace to all their seed.
and accepted by most of his brethren: but not by all his brethren, for part of the Sanhedrin disassociated from him when he became close to the government and neglected his studies.
to all their seed: This refers back to “all his people,” to all the seed of his people.
