1And all the officers of the armies and Johanan the son of Kareah and Jezaniah the son of Hoshiah and all the people from the smallest to the greatest, came near. |

אוַֽיִּגְּשׁוּ֙ כָּל־שָׂרֵ֣י הַֽחֲיָלִ֔ים וְיֽוֹחָנָן֙ בֶּן־קָרֵ֔חַ וִֽיזַנְיָ֖ה בֶּן־הֽוֹשַׁעְיָ֑ה וְכָל־הָעָ֖ם מִקָּטֹ֥ן וְעַד־גָּדֽוֹל: |
2And they said to Jeremiah the prophet, "Let our supplication now fall before you, and pray in our behalf to the Lord your God on behalf of all this remnant, for we remain few out of many, as your eyes see us. |

בוַיֹּֽאמְר֞וּ אֶל־יִרְמְיָ֣הוּ הַנָּבִ֗יא תִּפָּל־נָ֚א תְחִנָּתֵ֙נוּ֙ לְפָנֶ֔יךָ וְהִתְפַּלֵּ֚ל בַּֽעֲדֵ֙נוּ֙ אֶל־יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ בְּעַ֖ד כָּל־הַשְּׁאֵרִ֣ית הַזֹּ֑את כִּֽי־נִשְׁאַ֚רְנוּ מְעַט֙ מֵֽהַרְבֶּ֔ה כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֥ר עֵינֶ֖יךָ רֹא֥וֹת אֹתָֽנוּ: |
3And then let the Lord your God tell the way we should go and the thing we should do. |

גוְיַגֶּד־לָ֙נוּ֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ אֶת־הַדֶּ֖רֶךְ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נֵֽלֶךְ־בָּ֑הּ וְאֶת־הַדָּבָ֖ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר נַֽעֲשֶֽׂה: |
4And Jeremiah the prophet said to them, "I have heard [you]. Behold I will pray to the Lord your God according to your words, and it will come to pass that whatever the Lord answers you I will tell you; I will not withhold anything from you." |

דוַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶ֜ם יִרְמְיָ֚הוּ הַנָּבִיא֙ שָׁמַ֔עְתִּי הִֽנְנִ֧י מִתְפַּלֵּ֛ל אֶל־יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֖ם כְּדִבְרֵיכֶ֑ם וְֽהָיָ֡ה כָּֽל־הַדָּבָר֩ אֲשֶׁר־יַֽעֲנֶ֨ה יְהֹוָ֚ה אֶתְכֶם֙ אַגִּ֣יד לָכֶ֔ם לֹֽא־אֶמְנַ֥ע מִכֶּ֖ם דָּבָֽר: |
5And they said to Jeremiah, "May the Lord be a true and faithful witness against us if we do not do according to the entire matter that the Lord your God shall send you to us. |

הוְהֵ֙מָּה֙ אָֽמְר֣וּ אֶֽל־יִרְמְיָ֔הוּ יְהִ֚י יְהֹוָה֙ בָּ֔נוּ לְעֵ֖ד אֱמֶ֣ת וְנֶֽאֱמָ֑ן אִם־לֹ֡א כְּֽכָל־הַ֠דָּבָר אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִשְׁלָֽחֲךָ֜ יְהֹוָ֧ה אֱלֹהֶ֛יךָ אֵלֵ֖ינוּ כֵּ֥ן נַֽעֲשֶֽׂה: |
6Whether good or bad, we will hearken to the voice of the Lord our God, to Whom we are sending you, in order that it be good for us, for we will hearken to the voice of the Lord our God. |

ואִם־ט֣וֹב וְאִם־רָ֔ע בְּק֣וֹל | יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֗ינוּ אֲשֶׁ֨ר אֲנַ֜חְנוּ (כתיב אֲנַ֜וְּ) שֹֽׁלְחִ֥ים אֹֽתְךָ֛ אֵלָ֖יו נִשְׁמָ֑ע לְמַ֙עַן֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִֽיטַב־לָ֔נוּ כִּ֣י נִשְׁמַ֔ע בְּק֖וֹל יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ: |
7And it came to pass at the end of ten days that the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah. |

זוַיְהִ֕י מִקֵּ֖ץ עֲשֶׂ֣רֶת יָמִ֑ים וַיְהִ֥י דְבַר־יְהֹוָ֖ה אֶל־יִרְמְיָֽהוּ: |
8And he called to Johanan the son of Kareah and to all the officers of the armies that were with him, both great and small. |
|
חוַיִּקְרָ֗א אֶל־יֽוֹחָנָן֙ בֶּן־קָרֵ֔חַ וְאֶ֛ל כָּל־שָׂרֵ֥י הַֽחֲיָלִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר אִתּ֑וֹ וּלְכָל־הָעָ֖ם לְמִקָּטֹ֥ן וְעַד־גָּדֽוֹל: |
9And he said to them: So said the Lord God of Israel, to Whom you have sent me to present your supplication before Him. |
|
טוַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם כֹּֽה־אָמַ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אֲשֶׁ֨ר שְׁלַחְתֶּ֚ם אֹתִי֙ אֵלָ֔יו לְהַפִּ֥יל תְּחִנַּתְכֶ֖ם לְפָנָֽיו: |
10If you dwell in this land, I will build you up and I will not pluck you up, for I have repented of the evil that I have done to you. |
|
יאִם־שׁ֚וֹב תֵּֽשְׁבוּ֙ בָּאָ֣רֶץ הַזֹּ֔את וּבָנִ֚יתִי אֶתְכֶם֙ וְלֹ֣א אֶהֱרֹ֔ס וְנָֽטַעְתִּ֥י אֶתְכֶ֖ם וְלֹ֣א אֶתּ֑וֹשׁ כִּ֚י נִחַ֙מְתִּי֙ אֶל־הָ֣רָעָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשִׂ֖יתִי לָכֶֽם: |
11Fear not the king of Babylon whom you fear; fear it not, says the Lord, for I am with you to redeem you and to save you from his hand. |
|
יאאַל־תִּֽירְא֗וּ מִפְּנֵי֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ בָּבֶ֔ל אֲשֶׁר־אַתֶּ֥ם יְרֵאִ֖ים מִפָּנָ֑יו אַל־תִּֽירְא֚וּ מִמֶּ֙נּוּ֙ נְאֻם־יְהֹוָ֔ה כִּֽי־אִתְּכֶ֣ם אָ֔נִי לְהוֹשִׁ֧יעַ אֶתְכֶ֛ם וּלְהַצִּ֥יל אֶתְכֶ֖ם מִיָּדֽוֹ: |
12And I will give you mercy, and he shall have mercy on you, and he shall return you to your land. |
|
יבוְאֶתֵּ֥ן לָכֶ֛ם רַֽחֲמִ֖ים וְרִחַ֣ם אֶתְכֶ֑ם וְהֵשִׁ֥יב אֶתְכֶ֖ם אֶל־אַדְמַתְכֶֽם: |
13But if you say, "We will not dwell in this land, not to hearken to the voice of the Lord your God, |
|
יגוְאִם־אֹֽמְרִ֣ים אַתֶּ֔ם לֹ֥א נֵשֵׁ֖ב בָּאָ֣רֶץ הַזֹּ֑את לְבִלְתִּ֣י שְׁמֹ֔עַ בְּק֖וֹל יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם: |
14saying, 'No, but we will come to the land of Egypt, where we will neither see war not hear the sound of the horn, nor be hungry for bread, and there we will dwell.' " |

ידלֵאמֹ֗ר לֹא כִּ֣י אֶ֚רֶץ מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ נָב֔וֹא אֲשֶׁ֚ר לֹֽא־נִרְאֶה֙ מִלְחָמָ֔ה וְק֥וֹל שׁוֹפָ֖ר לֹ֣א נִשְׁמָ֑ע וְלַלֶּ֥חֶם לֹֽא־נִרְעָ֖ב וְשָׁ֥ם נֵשֵֽׁב: |
the sound of the horn. which the lookouts sound to warn the people. |

וקול שופר.
שתוקעין הצופים להזהיר את העם:
|
15And now, therefore, hearken to the word of the Lord, O remnant of Judah, so said the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel; If you direct your faces to come to Egypt and you come to dwell there, |
|
טווְעַתָּ֕ה לָכֵ֛ן שִׁמְע֥וּ דְבַר־יְהֹוָ֖ה שְׁאֵרִ֣ית יְהוּדָ֑ה כֹּֽה־אָמַר֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה צְבָא֜וֹת אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אִם־אַ֠תֶּם שׂ֣וֹם תְּשִׂמ֚וּן פְּנֵיכֶם֙ לָבֹ֣א מִצְרַ֔יִם וּבָאתֶ֖ם לָג֥וּר שָֽׁם: |
16the sword that you fear will overtake you there in the land of Egypt, and the famine that you are worried about shall overtake you there in Egypt, and there you shall die. |

טזוְהָֽיְתָ֣ה הַחֶ֗רֶב אֲשֶׁ֚ר אַתֶּם֙ יְרֵאִ֣ים מִמֶּ֔נָּה שָׁ֛ם תַּשִּׂ֥יג אֶתְכֶ֖ם בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם וְהָֽרָעָ֞ב אֲשֶׁר־אַתֶּ֣ם | דֹּֽאֲגִ֣ים מִמֶּ֔נּוּ שָׁ֣ם יִדְבַּ֧ק אַֽחֲרֵיכֶ֛ם מִצְרַ֖יִם וְשָׁ֥ם תָּמֻֽתוּ: |
17And [so] shall [it] be [with] all the men who directed their faces to Egypt to sojourn there; they shall die by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence, and they shall have neither survivor nor refugee because of the evil that I am bringing upon them. |
|
יזוְיִֽהְי֣וּ כָל־הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֗ים אֲשֶׁר־שָׂ֨מוּ אֶת־פְּנֵיהֶ֜ם לָב֚וֹא מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ לָג֣וּר שָׁ֔ם יָמ֕וּתוּ בַּחֶ֖רֶב בָּֽרָעָ֣ב וּבַדָּ֑בֶר וְלֹֽא־יִהְיֶ֚ה לָהֶם֙ שָׂרִ֣יד וּפָלִ֔יט מִפְּנֵי֙ הָֽרָעָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֲנִ֖י מֵבִ֥יא עֲלֵיהֶֽם: |
18For so said the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel; As My wrath and My fury have been poured out upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so shall My wrath and My fury be poured out upon you when you come to Egypt, and you shall be for an oath and for a bewilderment and for a curse and for a reproach, and you shall no longer see this place. |

יחכִּי֩ כֹ֨ה אָמַ֜ר יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָאוֹת֘ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ כַּֽאֲשֶׁר֩ נִתַּ֨ךְ אַפִּ֜י וַֽחֲמָתִ֗י עַל־יֽשְׁבֵי֙ יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם כֵּ֣ן תִּתַּ֚ךְ חֲמָתִי֙ עֲלֵיכֶ֔ם בְּבֹֽאֲכֶ֖ם מִצְרָ֑יִם וִֽהְיִיתֶ֞ם לְאָלָ֚ה וּלְשַׁמָּה֙ וְלִקְלָלָ֣ה וּלְחֶרְפָּ֔ה וְלֹֽא־תִרְא֣וּ ע֔וֹד אֶת־הַמָּק֖וֹם הַזֶּֽה: |
19The Lord spoke concerning you, O remnant of Judah; do not come to Egypt. You shall know certainly that I have warned you today. |
|
יטדִּבֶּ֨ר יְהֹוָ֚ה עֲלֵיכֶם֙ שְׁאֵרִ֣ית יְהוּדָ֔ה אַל־תָּבֹ֖אוּ מִצְרָ֑יִם יָדֹ֙עַ֙ תֵּֽדְע֔וּ כִּי־הַֽעִידֹ֥תִי בָכֶ֖ם הַיּֽוֹם: |
20For you have wilfully deceived, for you have sent me to the Lord your God, saying, "Pray for us to the Lord our God, and according to all that the Lord our God shall say, so tell us, and we will do [it]." |

ככִּ֣י הִתְעֵיתֶם֘ (כתיב הִתְעֵתֶים֘) בְּנַפְשֽׁוֹתֵיכֶם֒ כִּֽי־אַתֶּ֞ם שְׁלַחְתֶּ֣ם אֹתִ֗י אֶל־יְהֹוָ֚ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הִתְפַּלֵּ֣ל בַּֽעֲדֵ֔נוּ אֶל־יְהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ וּכְכֹל֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יֹאמַ֜ר יְהֹוָ֧ה אֱלֹהֵ֛ינוּ כֵּ֥ן הַגֶּד־לָ֖נוּ וְעָשִֽׂינוּ: |
21And I told you today, but you did not hearken to the voice of the Lord your God or to all that He sent me to you. |

כאוָֽאַגִּ֥ד לָכֶ֖ם הַיּ֑וֹם וְלֹ֣א שְׁמַעְתֶּ֗ם בְּקוֹל֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֔ם וּלְכֹ֖ל אֲשֶׁר־שְׁלָחַ֥נִי אֲלֵיכֶֽם: |
22And now, you shall certainly know that you shall die by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence in the place where you desired to sojourn. |

כבוְעַתָּה֙ יָדֹ֣עַ תֵּֽדְע֔וּ כִּ֗י בַּחֶ֛רֶב בָּֽרָעָ֥ב וּבַדֶּ֖בֶר תָּמ֑וּתוּ בַּמָּקוֹם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר חֲפַצְתֶּ֔ם לָב֖וֹא לָג֥וּר שָֽׁם: |
