A beloved children’s artist and educator in his hometown of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Daniel Azulay passed away on March 27, after battling leukemia and then contracting the coronavirus.

Azulay would generously give of his time and resources to Jewish causes, creating logos for several Jewish organizations.

Born in 1947 to a family of Morrocan-Jewish descent, Azulay was a descendant of the founding members of Rio’s first Sephardic congregation.
