The Month of Cheshvan
Silent Cleansing
The unique gift of Cheshvan is that it has nothing special about it. It is the month of silence that comes from peace and tranquility. After refining ourselves and ridding ourselves of all the resistance, we can take the inspiration we’ve experienced and bring it into the mundane aspects of our lives.
A Competition That Unites
The Rebbe addresses a children's rally: The subject of your new contest is Jewish Unity. The present month, Cheshvan, is when King Solomon and the Jewish People completed the First Holy Temple. It is an auspicious month for Jews to unite together to merit the Third Temple which we will build with Moshiach.

Living on the Edge
From the holidays into the everyday
On Sukkot, pilgrims travelled from all over the land of Israel to visit the Holy Temple in Jerusalem. In order not to inconvenience the traveler who lived furthest from the Holy City as he trekked home, the prayer for rain is delayed for 15 days, until the 7th of Cheshvan. In addressing this subject, this class offers the tonic to the inevitable post-holiday blues. (Based on Likutei Sichos, volume 20)
