Positive Commandment 7 (Digest)
Swearing in G‑d's Name

"And swear by His Name"Deuteronomy 10:20.

When necessary to conclusively confirm or deny, we are commanded to swear solely in G‑d's Name. This constitutes an honor for, and exaltation of, G‑d.

It is forbidden to swear in the name of any other entity, such as an angel or constellation, unless the person's intention is only to swear in the name of the one and only Power who created these entities.

Daily Quote
Seven things are concealed from man: the day of his death, the day of the Redemption, the absolute truth in a judgment; also, no man knows how he will earn a livelihood, what is in his neighbor's heart, what a woman is bearing, and when the wicked State [Rome] will fall.
