Messing In
Abraham was told to go to the Promised Land. But when he arrived, there was a famine there. So he went down to Egypt.
Nachmanides writes that this was a bad move. Abraham and Sarah should have stayed put. They should have had more trust in G-d.
And yet, even this was part of their journey. Their error made them yet greater. Their descent took them higher than they could ever have reached had they never made such a descent.
In truth, there are no descents in G-d's world. There are no wrong turns.
Eventually, every wrong road takes you closer to the truth.
A deeper truth.
