The sages teach that “Elul” is an acronym for the verse in Song of Songs: “I am my Beloved’s and my Beloved is mine.”
The itinerary was prepared, locations were secured, families signed up, and everything was ready to go. There was just one final step: They wanted the Rebbe's blessing.
Throughout the month of Elul, the Jewish people has a collective task: to prepare itself to be
inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year.
Our sages have said, "Sleep is one sixtieth of death" (Talmud, Berachot 57b). If sleep is a form of death, then death is a form of sleep -- but a temporary withdrawal of vitality for the sake of reawakening to a higher quality of life.
