shabbat I enjoy the preparation just as much...this might sound weird but, I like knowing that even in the very low light of the candles, I can't see every inch of my house, but I know that it's clean...even in the dark, knowing that everything is clean, provides like a vibrant space that feels protected. It feels good knowing that everything is done, and there's nothing left undone...time to reflect, and sleep. Another neat thing about our special night, is sometimes my wife doesn't get home till much later, and I have to light the candles...my daughter lights one. I'm getting very used to it. I want her to talk to her boss, to let her come home early...I feel that this is a mother daughter thing, but not entirely. I am merely a standby, an excitable fan of the blessing and the lighting "go mom!"...I want to know what their wishes were...I get nosey...but yeah, my wife is missing out sometimes...and I have gained a special bond with my daughter, as we wait for mom. Othello by candle light.
