bereishit Rabbi, thank G-d I am now 75 years old, I happened on your site which has taken me back to my learning as a child. because I no longer have the intellectual capacity I once had you have reminded me of what I once knew. Thank you for being my new teacher Reply
If Cain and Abel were born in Eden, before the fall, why were they expelled from Eden if that was not their sin. It stands to reason that they were not contaminated, but all fruit after that?
The reason that humans were kicked out of the Garden of Eden was that after the sin, good and evil became mixed. Humans gained an evil inclination in their hearts, not just outside of them in the form of a snake. Any human with that admixture cannot remain in the place of holiness and the Tree of Life. If a human with evil inside eats from the Tree of Life, it will give evil eternal life as well. We need to purge the evil inside before returning there, whether we sinned by eating from the Tree of Knowledge or not.
