Sefer HaMitzvot: Day 126 Dear Rabbi Kaplan, as I heard your lecture on the Mitzvot commanded by Hashem, blessed be He, It applies only in Israel. I thought we were to give tithes from our earnings even here in USA. I grew up in another religion, and were taught to give tithes from our earnings to the church. As per "their" teachings, it is commanded by G-d from the Holy Scriptures. I did. Now learning otherwise, I am very surprised. Would you be kind as to elaborate on this subject now that I have return to my roots of Judaism? I would really appreciate it so much. I find myself in financial difficulty this day, and feel very uncomfortable for not being able to give as much as I used to give. Thank you for your kindness, I appreciate your teachings very much. Thank you. Reply
Sefer Hamitzvot: Day126 Dear Rabbi Kaplan, thank you for your reply. I do not have a local Orthodox Rabbi. I have not been accepted yet as a Sephardic Jewess. Although it is my dream to some day be a part of the congregation of Israel. Meanwhile, I am learning as much as I can. Thank you so much for your kindness. I, very much, appreciate it.
