I have 2 questions:
1) Why does the Torah go into great detail and lists the entire family of Esau and all of his descendants? Why do we need to know the details of an evil man's family?
I was thinking perhaps so that we know that Amalek was the grandson of Esau. But even if that's the case, why can't the Torah just have one pasuk saying that Amalek is the grandson, and not talk about all the other wives, and their children, etc..?
2) The Torah is quite repetitive in repeating that "Esau is Edom"... What is the need for the repetition? It seems to me there's no need to keep repeating who Edom is because these are the descendants of Esau (who is Edom). Please let me know if there is any commentary on this?
