The Superior Wife Jews liken Rachel to be their mother, and the best woman in Torah. However, I personally believe that Leah is superior. As proof, she had more children than Rachel. The reason I believe Leah is superior is that she served Gd out of duty, while Rachel served out of love which can be likened to the pathway to idolatry. Reply
Is it possible that Esau's band of 400 was gathered to claim his holdings in Seir, rather than to confront Yaakov?
Or that Yaakov was unable to join his brother at the time due to the injury to his hip?
The Torah clearly says that the 400 men were coming towards Yaakov, so there's no reason to assume anything else.
Yaakov's hip injury was healed the next morning, so that wouldn't be the reason.
