Found myself surprised I had not realized until listening to this lesson that the ten gold shekels serves as an allusion to the ten proclamations.

It seems as if Abraham signing over everything to Yitzak was a brilliant legal maneuver, since it would prevent Yishmael from claiming a double portion of what he and Sarah had built together after his passing before he was ready. Perhaps he saw that in time that Yizak and Yishmael would live in peace.
Later, his sons from Ketura would inherit everything he had acquired with her, and also hopefully spread the belief in monotheism while leaving Israel intact.
