An Australian environmental justice’s decision to invalidate some rezoning plans in New South Wales has downgraded Jewish institution’s property values, in some cases by millions of dollars.

According to a report in The Australian Jewish News, Judge Malcom Craig’s decision has potentially undercut Masada College’s plans to sell its current property and consolidate its classes on one campus. The decision, however, would likely not affect the recent $6 million purchase of a vacant Sydney banking facility and plans to turn it into the Chabad-Lubavitch run North Shore Jewish Community Centre.

The decision was disappointing, NSW Jewish Board of Deputies president Yair Miller told the paper.

“We hope that the state government and Ku-ring-gai Council will act expeditiously to ensure that an appropriate solution is found,” said Miller.
