In honor of the anniversary of the passing of the Alter Rebbe, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, of righteous memory, the Kehot Publication Society released a previously unpublished Chasidic discourse from the founder of Chabad Chasidus. The discourse, which begins by citing a verse from this week’s Torah portion of Va’era, was delivered by the Alter Rebbe three hundred years ago and expounds on the spiritual significance of the events leading up to the Jewish people’s deliverance from Egypt. The current publication, which includes 99 footnotes beneath 14 pages of text, is based on a manuscript kept at the library of Agudas Chasidei Chabad at Lubavitch World Headquarters in Brooklyn, N.Y. Throughout the 24th day of the Hebrew month of Teves – the Alter Rebbe’s anniversary of passing, which fell out this past Wednesday – thousands of people learned the never-before-seen discourse. ...
