Flaxseeds aren't junk I disagree with calling Kayin's offerring of flax seeds "junk' because flax seeds ground or cooked provide omega3, lignans, vitamins and minerals; they are indeed the most important food we can include in our "weekday" diet. Flax seeds should be consumed often.

Sacrificing an animal is something special, an appropriate offerring for Hashem. Taking the lives of animals for food is a serious matter. We as a community, as well as society in general, degrade the animals by killing them for non sacrificial purposes and by eating animal foods every day. Reply

Junk In context with the text, they were supposed to give Hashem the best. This was not the best he could have given. This would be the equivalent of giving an animal that is sick or injured. So, I agree that what he gave was indeed junk. Reply

Giving the Best I hear you. Maybe he gave flax seeds raw which are not edible. They need to crushed to be consumed as a mincha. Reply

"One flesh" post-marriage I have a question regarding the expression of "one flesh" of the husband and wife beyond a divorce through the children. You said that children will always "keep their parents together" - does that also mean their one-ness is therefore never really severed? Does it mean anything at all to the new marriage of the divorcees? Reply
