Master of the Home Front: 25 Iyar 5750 · May 20, 1990

Before they entered the Land of Israel, Moses instructed the Jewish People regarding Shemitah, the Sabbatical Year. He did not preface with instructions regarding the six years of work, because the purpose of having Israel was not to work the land, but to reach the blessings of the seventh year, when the Jews could devote themselves to educating their children in Torah.

Every concept in Torah is reflected in the Jewish home, the miniature Sanctuary for G-d. Every nook and cranny is permeated with G-dliness and blessing — especially a Chassidic home, where Mitzvos are observed in generous measure, eliciting G-d's blessing in generous measure.

All the family’s blessings come by virtue of the righteous woman. A Jewish woman must do her utmost to hasten the Redemption, by upgrading the Jewishness and Chasidic quality of her and her family's life, and by educating her daughter so that when she marries and builds her own home, she will create her own “Land of Israel” — a home guided by Torah.
