Disc 51, Program 201
Event Date: 12 Tammuz 5744 - July 12, 1984
When it appears to a person that he is a minority standing against the jungle of the world, he has the example of my father-in-law, the Rebbe: One lone individual who stood against a ruthless, powerful regime - and triumphed, for he had G-d on his side. G-d has blessed us to live in a country which allows - and even supports - Jewish life. So today one can display “self-sacrifice” without endangering or surrendering his life. The sacrifice today is to surrender one’s personal desires and dedicate his entire being to G-d’s Will - for a Jew, the 613 commandments and for a non-Jew, the Seven Noahide Laws. When one follows these holy principles in his personal life, he becomes a source of influence in his communal life as well. Government leaders will take notice and listen to him more intently and follow his directives more speedily, for they will see that he has no personal motives - that he is the model of a true “public servant.” |
