A Moment to Save the World – Part 2
Disc 28, Program 112
Event Date: 10 Shevat 5743 - January 24, 1983
Parents rely on the Public School System to rear their children into mature, responsible adults. Their children are imbued with the values of this country’s sense of pride: That “My own power and the strength of my hand have brought me my success.” But with this approach unchecked, they will grow up to use their education to achieve their own selfish desires. If at the beginning of the school day, children are given a moment to reflect on the moral values which their parents instruct them, they will come to understand that the knowledge they are taught in school is for the sake of benefiting others, even before themselves. And “the children will bring their parents back,” by asking them every day: “I have to go to public school now, and my teacher is going to tell me to think – you must tell me what to think about.” |
