My father-in-law, the Rebbe, writes: Every Jewish soul is bound to a letter in Torah. Whenever a new Torah scroll is to be completed, the announcement of the upcoming celebration reawakens a Jew to this deep-rooted core of his soul.

Event Date: 17 Kislev 5741 - November 25, 1980

My father-in-law, the Rebbe, writes: Every Jewish soul is bound to a letter in Torah. Whenever a new Torah scroll is to be completed, the announcement of the upcoming celebration reawakens a Jew to this deep-rooted core of his soul.

Not only is every Jew bound to Torah, the Jewish People’s connection to each other is expressed through the Torah scroll. As all 600,000 individual letters are completed, an entirely new unit is created – one complete Torah, representing one complete People.

G-d says: “I have written Myself into the Torah that I have given” – G-d invests His essence into the Torah scroll. And just as G-d commands us to always increase in matters of holiness, He shines a new intensity of divine light into the world with every new Torah scroll that joins the Jewish People.
