There’s a lot we can learn from the order and sequence of stories in the Torah. In this week’s Torah portion, we begin with the story of Jethro and go on to read about the Ten Commandments, encompassing all the fundamentals of the Torah. Jethro symbolizes the epitome of someone who is distant from the Jewish way. Having served and worshipped every kind of idolatry, he was still able to eventually recognize the greatness and oneness of the Almighty. This is a lesson for us today. No matter how distant one seems to be from Judaism, you’re never too far from returning to G-d and His Torah. |
