Gathering with a Purpose
Gathering with a PurposeThe stories related in the Torah are more than historical events. They offer guidance and direction for the way we live our lives. When we find ourselves in a year of hakhel, it’s not enough to merely recall how it was marked in the Holy Temple, we must search for ways to make it relevant in our lives, today.
Gathering with a Purpose
Disc 153, Program 611
Event Date: 18 Iyar 5727 - May 28, 1967
The stories related in the Torah are more than historical events. They offer guidance and direction for the way we live our lives. When we find ourselves in a year of hakhel, it’s not enough to merely recall how it was marked in the Holy Temple, we must search for ways to make it relevant in our lives, today. That is why all Jews, even children, should make an effort to gather their friends and family together in unity. This is especially so on Lag B’omer, when we mark the passing of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, who always sought to see only the good in others. |
