On Rosh Hashanah, we are reminded of the Jewish mother’s dedication and self-sacrifice in fostering our nation’s deep commitment to G‑d.

Sarah, our matriarch, was remembered by G-d on Rosh Hashana and blessed with her only son, Isaac. To instill in him proper Jewish values, she suppressed her kind and hospitable nature, and shunned those who would have a negative influence on him. In this way, she successfully raised Isaac – the only Jewish child in a world of foreign influences, to be the next Patriarch of the Jewish people.

The plight of Chana the Prophetess was also remembered on Rosh Hashanah, when G-d blessed her with a son.

When the Jewish mother raises her child as a proud Jew, he becomes a source of physical and spiritual abundance, and much Nachas to the entire Jewish people.

I just want to say that I think this is so beautiful that we can sit in our own homes and share in the wisdom of the Rebbe. The Rebbe knew that we as Jewish Mothers have very difficult decisions to make with our children and our families and we must do true tschuvah to lead a torah observant life. The Rebbe was also patient with working up to more and more mitzvot. A Jew or Jewess should never be afraid to come to Torah with even the barest minium of knowledge or observance of mitzvot. And no other Jew should make him or her feel anything but. Blessings to all for a good and sweet new year and for the immediate arrival of Moshiach NOW! Reply
