Disc 144, Program 576
Event Date: 6 Tishrei 5748 - September 29, 1987
When the Temple stood in Jerusalem, every seven years all Jewish men women and children would ascend the Temple Mount to hear the king of Israel read the Torah in fulfillment of the verse, “Assemble the people, men, women, and children… in order that they learn to fear G-d and do all the words of his Torah.” With the beginning of the year of assembly, or Hakhel, the Rebbe encourages all Jews to make gatherings wherever they live, and inspire each other to increase in Torah observance and study, and foster a Jewish environment. |
