Expecting Moshiach Today

The Previous Rebbe was once approached with the following dilemma: You profess to expect Moshiach’s coming “immediately.” Yet, at the same time, you make long-term plans, as if expecting exile to continue for the foreseeable future?

Disc 13, Program 51

Event Date: 15 Shevat 5741 - January 20, 1981

The Previous Rebbe was once approached with the following dilemma: You profess to expect Moshiach’s coming “immediately.” Yet, at the same time, you make long-term plans, as if expecting exile to continue for the foreseeable future?

The Previous Rebbe cited a precedent for this in Torah: While journeying through the desert, the Jews carried the Tabernacle with them, erecting it at every new place they encamped. Some encampments lasted many years, while others were less than a day. In each new place they erected the Tabernacle, with all its components, despite the chance they might leave that very day.

We expect to leave exile today. But every moment we are still in exile, we must proceed with complete enthusiasm, and at full capacity, to make our current “encampment” a dwelling place for G‑d.

The Friderker Rebbe writes the predicament we are in is because of the misleaders. KLAL YISRAEL DO TESHUVA. ALL OF the souls of Jews of all the past generations are in exile as long as we are in exile. The Rebbe says this is what we must teach our children. In all Chabad houses there must be a big sign saying faster to Teshuva faster to Redemption. How come it's been more than forty years since the Rebbe spoke about this and there is no talk about teshuva and we are still in galut. Do Teshuva KLAL Yisrael. No more misleaders. Wake up as the Fruederker Rebbe says, and the Rooster doesn't budge. ABut it has too. Wake up and do Teshuva!!!! Hashem please Redeem us with a loud scream of Teshuva Shelema. Reply
