The yahrzeit of the Rebbe Maharash, the fourth Chabad Rebbe, falls just before Sukkos, a time when Jews busily prepare for the upcoming festival. In recalling his life’s work, we see how the Rebbe Maharash gave up personal comforts, working tirelessly to improve the spiritual and physical lives of Russian Jewry.

At this festive time of year, his example provides the inspiration that we ensure that every Jew has what he needs, spiritually and materially, to experience the holiday joy.

The true joy of Sukkos can only be felt when it includes, “you, your sons, your daughters, your servants, your maids and the strangers within your gates.” Both in preparation for, and during, the holiday, we must bring the celebration of Sukkos to every Jew we can reach.
