Rabbi Shneur Zalman Vilenkin served as the Rebbe’s childhood teacher in Yekaterinoslav (Dnepropetrovsk), Ukraine. Vilenkin’s grandson, Rabbi Yehudah Leib Schapiro, describes the extraordinary honor the Rebbe accorded his grandfather years later in New York.
