Children of Avraham: Parade, Lag BaOmer, 5743 • May 1, 1983Judaism demands ethics of all ages; children as well as adults. The demands are much greater than the not cheating or lying; we must refrain from even approaching a seller to underbid or somehow get an item that another child or person wants. It would be frustrating and spiteful if it were done to us, therefore we should not do it to another.

Judaism demands ethics of all ages; children as well as adults. The demands are much greater than the not cheating or lying; we must refrain from even approaching a seller to underbid or somehow get an item that another child or person wants. It would be frustrating and spiteful if it were done to us, therefore we should not do it to another. Where can we find the strength to uphold such high moral standards? The Midrash relates that the verse “G-d stands in the council of judges” refers to ever single Jew, man, woman or child, dating back to the time of our Patriarch Avraham, whom G-d stood over as he served guests. G-d’s standing over us gives us the strength to combat any negative influences, and be respectful of one another.
