If a person has been blessed by G-d with the talent and ability to write a book, no matter what the book’s storyline is, it must communicate to the reader the awareness that “There is a Master of this palace” – that Someone is in charge of this turbulent world. While you may, in fact, live a proper life, believe in G-d, and express your beliefs in private conversation so that others should believe as well – that’s great, but it’s not nearly enough... This is one of the lessons we take from the Megillah’s very specific and detailed description of how King Achashverosh conducted his celebration for 180 consecutive days, utilizing all his greatest wealth and splendor, and only thereafter was he content. If a non-Jew could be so concerned about utilizing all his potential, then certainly a Jew, who is carrying out G-d’s mission to make this world a Divine dwelling place, must do the same. Wherever your influence can reach, there must also reach the knowledge and awareness that there is a G-d Who directs the world and its every detail, and to Whom the conduct of every human being is important. |
