There’s a lot we can learn from the order and sequence of stories in the Torah. In this week’s Torah portion, we begin with the story of Jethro and go on to read about the Ten Commandments, encompassing all the fundamentals of the Torah.

When the Jewish people was surrounded by the Egyptians at the sea, four opinions were voiced on how to respond: 1) Jump into the sea – better to give one’s life in sanctification of G-d’s Name than to transgress His will; 2) Return to Egypt – perhaps they had not completed their spiritual mission there; 3) take up arms and fight – for to extinguish their own lives or return to Egypt would both transgress G-d’s will; 4) Pray to G-d.

Sheva Brachos are held at the Rebbe’s Farbrengen in honor of the marriage of Dr. Larry and Molly Resnik.

The Rebbe leads Morning Prayers at 770 on the 30th Yahrzeit of his father-in-law and predecessor, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak of Lubavitch.

"My soul thirsts for You, my flesh longs for You; as one in a desolate and dry land without water, so I thirst to behold You in the Sanctuary, to behold Your might and glory." (Psalms 63:2, 3). This song was first taught by the Rebbe on 28 Nissan, 5714 - 1954.

In honor of the Rebbe’s 30th anniversary of leadership, Rabbi J.B. Soloveitchik joins in the Yud Shevat Farbrengen.
