Greetings and blessings,

a) Enclosed is a copy of my letter to Kfar [Chabad]. In my opinion, even if emissaries from the Kfar will not visit the directors mentioned in my letter because there is a report that [emissaries from] other parties are already speaking on their behalf with regard to the Shemitah [year], it is still worthwhile that emissaries from Chabad institutions visit these people and make a presentation of the activities of the chassidic brotherhood in our Holy Land. Even if there will not be a demand for financial assistance, the matter is worthwhile for several reasons.

b) At present, Mrs. Levy, one of the members of the directorate of the Joint [Distribution Committee] in France is visiting the Holy Land. Until now, several matters for the benefit of the members of the chassidic brotherhood were achieved through her. She also has the potential to help in this regard in the future. One of the purposes of her coming to our Holy Land is that she wants to arrange for her father to settle there. (According to reports, he is an observant Jew.) It would be appropriate to help her in all the above, [following the guidance of the verse]:1 “Cast your bread upon the waters….” I do not know her address, but she will undoubtedly turn to Agudas Chabad or one of the members of the directorate, because she was given their addresses [while she was] in Paris.

With blessing,

M. Schneerson
