Greetings and blessings,
…In your letter, you write that you submitted the papers for immigration to Canada and you ask my opinion concerning that.
In general, the reports are that, with regard to one’s material livelihood, it is not that easy to establish oneself in Canada. I have already written to several of the chassidic brotherhood in France that it would appear very appropriate to endeavor to move to Morocco and establish themselves there. (It is self-understood that the intent is in one of the two cities — Meknes or Casablanca — where our institutions are located.) [Alternatively, there are options of settling in] Australia or South America where, according to the reports that have been received and which are coming from there, it is possible to establish oneself there with regard to one’s material livelihood. There is also ample opportunity for establishing one’s spiritual livelihood there.
The time has come when, to use the wording of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, the members of the chassidic brotherhood should seriously contemplate the concept of spreading the wellsprings of Chassidus outward and know that [the idea is not just an abstract principle]; we ourselves must become involved. True, every person asks himself the question: “What am I and who am I [to perform such an elevated task]?” Nevertheless, it is not for us to think that way. For we have been placed in this generation when “He is standing behind our wall”1 and we are awaiting the time when “our feet will meet his feet.”2 [Our responsibility is] to bring the wellsprings of Chassidus to far extremities to which they have not yet reached. With the power of the Essence of G‑d’s infinity Who communicated His word to us through His holy servants, our holy Rebbeim, we will go forth on this mission and succeed.
It is self-understood that all of the above does not present a contradiction to attempting to obtain immigration papers to Canada or any other place.
With greetings to our entire brotherhood and with blessings for establishing yourself successfully in the near future,
