Greetings and blessings,
I am writing with regard to a matter of present concern: to send my wishes for a good and sweet year for you and your entire household in all forms of good.
In these days, “when the Source of Light draws close to the spark,”1 and when [the spiritual influence of] every individual is comparable to [that of] an entire community during the remainder of the year (Rosh HaShanah 18a), there is a great responsibility and obligation upon every person who has influence to use that influence throughout his surroundings to strengthen the Torah and Yiddishkeit.
In addition, this year Rosh HaShanah falls on Shabbos. The beginning and “head” of the year is [a time] when: “[The Jewish people]are all crowned with new souls so that... they can bless... with joy, with shining countenances” (Zohar II, p. 135b).
Concluding with blessings for a kesivah vechasimah tovah,
M. Schneerson
Chairman of the Executive Committee
