This letter was sent to Rabbi Shneur Zalman Duchman, one of the active members of the chassidic brotherhood.

B”H, 19 Teves, 5709

Greetings and blessings,

I am acknowledging receipt of your seventh and eighth letters. Enclosed is the kuntreis published for 24 Teves, a letter from my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe Shlita, and a letter from Machne Israel.1 Please endeavor [to spread] the messages contained within [to broad spectrums of the Jewish community], for their content is not only limited to chassidim.

Under separate cover, you were sent as per your request: the [Rebbe’s] Memoirs;the sichos of Pesach, 5703; the second collection of letters; and the address to [Jewish] women. Please acknowledge your receipt of them and share them with people at large.

It is obvious that my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe Shlita, knows that you are sending your memoirs here, [of which] he said: “This is a very appropriate matter.”2 Similarly, from time to time, I relate the gist of several of the stories to him and this generates satisfaction each time.

With good wishes, while awaiting to receive the continuation of your memoirs,

Rabbi Menachem Schneerson
