This letter was addressed to R. Avraham Paris, one of the active members of the chassidic brotherhood in Eretz Yisrael.

B”H, 21 Menachem Av, 5710

Greetings and blessings,

In response to your letter of 14 Menachem Av:

In my letter of erev Rosh Chodesh Tammuz,1 I wrote of the merit and the obligation [for the members of the chassidic brotherhood] to become involved in obtaining funds for the [support of] thecentral offices of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch, Machne [Israel], and Kehot, which until now had been the personal task of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, הכ"מ, alone. I did not, however, at all [intend to] negate involvement in matters of [Jewish] education and strengthening Yiddishkeit in one’s home environment. Therefore I am amazed at your thought to cease your involvement in the areas in which you were working until now and return the money to the donors.... I am asking you not to be extreme, but to work in an orderly pattern in a matter that is befitting for both purposes together....

Signing with blessing,

Menachem Schneerson
